About Shehzad

Shehzad Noorani migrated to Pakistan with his family as a young child, fleeing the violent Bangladesh liberation war. His difficult childhood on the streets and in the garment factories of Karachi has contributed to his sympathy and understanding of the disadvantaged people he documents today. Since 1988, he has been working as a freelance photographer in Dhaka, concentrating on the social issues and problems of urban women and children. In 1990, he began a continuing project documenting the plight of sex workers in Bangladesh, and in neighboring countries of Nepal, India and Pakistan.
